Congress Theme: Advances in coaching psychology theory, research and practice from around the world
The International Society for Coaching Psychology (ISCP) is the member from the International Congress of Coaching Psychology Forum. The ISCP is organising this 5-day virtual congress. A number of the ICCP Forum members are also supporting partners of the virtual congress.

Workshop Information
Workshop 1. 10.00 to 13.00 BST. 7th October, 2024: ‘Time to Savour’ for coaches and coaching psychologists with Dr Zelda Di Blasi & Anna Navin Young.
In this masterclass, Dr. Zelda Di Blasi and Anna Navin Young will define savouring strategies and time awareness, explaining how we can measure the ways we can savour and track how we spend our time. Drawing on the latest research, they will highlight how the conscious practice of time awareness and savouring positive experiences can enhance wellbeing and performance.
The session will provide opportunities for participants to experience some of the benefits of savouring positive moments in the context of time. Participants will also engage in discussions about the application of these techniques in coaching, exploring how time awareness and savouring can support clients in achieving greater wellbeing and peak performance.
The session will be interactive, with a blend of theory, practical exercises, and small group discussions. This combination will allow participants to both learn and experience time awareness and savouring techniques firsthand, while reflecting on their implications and practical use in coaching.

• To understand what is meant by time awareness and savouring and their role in wellbeing and performance
• To explore ways we can practice savouring and time awareness in our everyday lives

Workshop 2. 10.00 to 12.30 BST. 8th October, 2024: Back to basics. Coaching in step with nature: theory, research and practice with Prof Stephen Palmer & Dr Siobhain O’Riordan.
The workshop provides an overview to theory, research and practice of outdoors coaching. There will be time to reflect on how we can work towards developing the practice of nature based coaching psychology or coaching. When coaching outdoors is not always feasible, we will consider what alternative coaching techniques and methods can be used to utilise the power of nature and the natural environment instead.
Participants can have a go at using the horizon view technique and consider the benefits. Prior to the workshop they can complete a short 10 minute survey investigating the impact of horizons. Results will be shared at the workshop. Click HERE for the link to the survey.
The workshop will include small group discussion. The trainers have both published research into outdoors coaching which will be covered during the workshop. They edit the peer reviewed publication, the Journal of Ecopsychology.
Learning Outcomes
- To define ecopsychology, climate psychology, environmental psychology and nature based coaching psychology and reflect on the similarities and differences
- To increase knowledge in the theory, research and practice of outdoors coaching, in particular, with nature
- To explore how we can start coaching in step with nature
- To encourage reflection as part of the coach-coachee-nature relationship
- To investigate the benefits of using the horizon view technique in outdoors coaching
- To develop alternative techniques and methods utilising nature and the natural environment when coaching outdoors is not feasible
- To consider basic the health and safety aspects of outdoors coaching.

Workshop 3. 10.00 to 13.00 BST. 9th October, 2024: Using mindfulness in coaching psychology practice with Dr Rachel Skews.
In this masterclass, Dr Rachael Skews will outline the role and use of mindfulness in coaching practice, using the example of Acceptance and Commitment Coaching as a mindfulness and acceptance based coaching practice. Learners will explore both the benefits of mindfulness, and the ethical implications of use in coaching. Learners will be offered the opportunity to practise and explore in small groups and within plenary discussions.
Learning outcomes:
• To understand what mindfulness is and how to cultivate it in coaching psychology practice.
• To recognise the benefits of mindfulness in coaching psychology practice
• To explore techniques to develop greater present moment awareness, a more flexible sense of self, greater cognitive distancing, and increased acceptance
• To reflect on the ethical implications of mindfulness in coaching psychology, including contraindications for meditation

Workshop 4. 10.00 to 12.00 BST. 10th October, 2024: Exploring Midlife Transitions through Coaching Psychology with Dr Siobhain O’Riordan & Sheila Panchal.
This session will allow participants to reflect on mid-life transitions from a number of perspectives. The current social, generational and cultural context for people experiencing midlife today will be considered. In addition, coaching psychology approaches and models will be explored, both in terms of understanding transitional experiences and working with midlife coachees.

- To consider the social, cultural and generational context for midlife experience,
- To consider coaching psychology approaches and models towards midlife transitions,
- To consider how coaching psychology techniques can be used when working with coachees through midlife
